I believe in GOD.
I believe everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.
I believe everyone should be treated equally, whether you own one property or one hundred, whether you're an individual homeowner or a developer, a stay-at-home mom with a home-based business or a corporate CEO. Everyone should be treated equally, regardless of their status. I am a public servant, and if you are a taxpayer you have a right to my time and attention.
I believe a taxpayer who has a complaint should always be given the benefit of the doubt. It is important to me that the taxpayers feel they have been treated fairly.
If you believe a mistake has been made or the property appraisal is not correct, I will assume you are right unless and until I've done the research and can clearly show otherwise.
I believe that most people expect to pay taxes, but they only expect to pay their fair share. The Putnam County Commissioners set the tax rate based on many things, including the combined total appraised value of all taxable properties in Putnam County. When all properties are not on the tax roll like they should be, then your tax dollars make up the difference for those that aren't being assessed.
I believe a greater effort should be made to keep track of all completed new construction. If you're paying a fair amount on your house and property, then everyone else should be paying a fair amount on theirs. The only way that the Assessor can have a positive effect on the tax rate is by making sure that all appraisals are done correctly, fairly, and equally.
I believe the Assessor should be available and able to make corrections or adjustments based on each property’s individual characteristics.
I believe the Assessor is elected by the people and should be there for the people.
