I live in a rural area between the communities of Boma and Silver Point. My forefathers came to this area in 1812. I am of the seventh generation of my family to live in this location. I am proud of my family heritage, especially our reputation for honesty and hard work.
My parents are Avery and Terry Roberts. My father retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and since then has worked as a Tool and Die Specialist and also a Licensed Electrician. My Mother has always been a perfect wife, mother, and homemaker.
My wife, Melissa, and I have two children, our daughter, Merisa, is 13 and attends Cornerstone Middle school and our son, Patton, graduated from Cookeville High school and is currently pursuing a career in the music industry. Besides keeping home and being a wonderful wife and mother, Melissa is self-employed as a Paralegal and has been doing that for about 12 years.
We attended Church at Trinity Assembly, in Algood, for 10 years. Currently we are members of Cookeville First Assembly of God and have been there for about 2 years.
I went to Baxter Elementary and Upperman high-school and also attended Livingston Vocational Technical School where I graduated with a diploma in civil drafting. I worked in the Putnam County Property Assessor’s office for eight years, 1989-1996. Besides being the Mapping Specialist during this period, I became familiar with all the other functions required to operate the Assessor’s office. I also worked eight years as an Engineering Technician for The City of Cookeville Public Works Department. Currently I am employed as the Mapping Specialist in the White County Assessor’s office.
My experience in these three jobs prepared me for the technical qualifications needed to be your Property Assessor. It is my desire to serve the people in the county that I love and call home.
I don't want to be a politician, I want to be the Assessor of Property. I don't want this position as just some political stepping-stone or an important label on my name. I want this position because this is what I know and this is what I do.
I am seeking this position because I have the knowledge and experience to do the job and that’s exactly what it is, a Job. Not a free ticket to the golf course.
